Nathan Carter

(American, b. 1970)
Houston Radio Radar Reflectors, 2013
Painted steel; 84 x 588 x 16 inches

Carter employs a lexicon of shapes, lines, and bold colors to create this diorama-like sculpture. Influenced by Alexander Calder and Joan Miró, his brightly painted forms and deliberate handmade quality reference modernist strategies of play and intuition. The arrangement of forms is typographic and evokes networks and structures of communication.
