Arts District Summer Camp is a creative summer camp for children ages 6-12, designed to inspire young minds through a blend of art, theater, music, architecture, and hands-on art activities. Each day is filled with exciting games, engaging art projects, and campus field trips that give kids a taste of the college experience. Campers will explore different artistic disciplines, learn new skills, and work together on fun, interactive projects that connect them to creative expression and the Public Art UHS art collection and creative expression. It’s a fantastic opportunity for kids to discover their artistic passions while enjoying a fun and enriching summer!

Early Bird: 04/19/25     –   $250 

Priority:     05/05/25     –   $300

Schedule: 

Drop off begins daily at 9:00 a.m., followed by activities and events from 9:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Drop off time for the first day (June 9th) beings at 8:00am.

Zoie Buske- Manager of Education and Engagement

Zoie is the Manager of Education and Engagement for Public Art of the University of Houston System, where she works to connect K-12 students and educators with the university’s public art collection. Zoie is passionate igniting curiosity, inspiring creativity, and fostering lifelong engagement with the arts. Zoie’s favorite artist in the University of Houston’s Public Art Collection is Carlos Cruz Diez. 

Claudia Montero – Teaching Artist

 

Claudia Montero is a Teaching Artist for Public Art UHS where she plans and presents engaging object-based tours for students in grades K-12.  With 12 years of experience teaching elementary art, Claudia has a strong background in fostering creativity and artistic development in children. She has a deep passion for painting and is dedicated to nurturing young artistic talent. Claudia is excited to guide campers in their creative journey at Public Art UHS Camp.

Emily Harris- Graduate Assistant

Emily is the Graduate Assistant for Public Art UHS, working with the education team to deliver programming for the K-12 students and educators. She is earning her M.A. in Arts Leadership at the University of Houston. She is a native Houstonian with a passion for the arts and she plays the French Horn.
