Join us on Thursday September 14th to kick off the academic year with our annual Evening for Educators event! Learn the vital ways arts education can further community and confidence in your classroom. Connect with colleagues, participate in interactive activities, and see how art honors individual and collective storytelling.
This professional development event and reception are co-hosted by Public Art of the University of Houston System, Blaffer Art Museum, and the Moores School of Music.

Listen, see, and create art that uplifts and inspires by honoring individual and collective storytelling. Connect with colleagues and see how art inspires art through hands-on art making, interactive tours, and music and movement activities:
- 5:00PM Arrival and Check-in at the Blaffer Art Museum
- 5:10-6:00PM Breakout Sessions: Blaffer Art Museum and Moores School of Music
- 6:00-6:30PM Public Art UHS Walking Tour to the John M. O’Quinn Law Building

Featured Artwork: Rick Lowe, The Line, 2023. A new acquisition at the John M. O’Quinn Law Center building.
Discover Houston’s rich art history and connection to community in this focus presentation of one of our newest acquisitions: Rick Lowe’s The Line. Participants will learn about how Project Row House founder and Houston artist Rick Lowe has impacted our community through their artwork and activism.
The Evening for Educators Public Art UHS tour will end on the third-floor terrace for light bites and a mocktail toast to our attendees as we begin the academic year.

Featured exhibition: John Guzman: Flesh and Bone
We invite you to explore the exhibition through sound and conversation.
Guided by a museum Docent, explore the first solo museum exhibition of artist John Guzman, created in the artist’s hometown of San Antonio and as a fellow at the NXTHAVN Student Fellowship Program in New Haven, CT. Working in painting and drawing, the artist abstracts the human figure, mining psychological and physical states.
