Dining at UH

Dining accommodations are available across campus but for most School Field Trips we recommend either bringing packed lunches and eating on the picnic tables outside in the School of Art Courtyard or visiting the Student Center South if students want to bring lunch and/or purchase lunch on campus. University of Houston Dining FAQs:

Q: If we bring student lunches, where will they be stored?

A: We can store packed lunches on site in an air-conditioned area at the School of Art Office or other nearby air-conditioned departmental office. Refrigeration is not available, but teachers are welcome to bring coolers to store lunches.

Q: Can students eat outside on campus?

A: Yes! If your students are comfortable eating outdoors there are many spaces, we can house a school group. Just keep in mind that not all outdoor areas have tables or chairs for students to sit on. A great area to eat outdoors is in the School of Art Courtyard which can hold about 35 students maximum on picnic tables.

Q: Can students bring packed lunches and purchase lunches on campus?

A: Yes! Students are welcome to bring their lunch and eat it in the Student Center South which has the most room to accommodate large groups.

Q: Can I order food for my students, and have it delivered somewhere on campus?

A: Yes! Just keep in mind that ordering food from a vendor that is not on campus grounds can take a while to be received.

Q: Can I purchase boxed lunches for my students to be delivered to us on our field trip?

A: Yes! Fresh Fork is the University of Houston catering company and Public Art UHS can arrange boxed lunches for you and your group. For more information, email us at pauhsEDU@uh.edu.

Q: Can my students reserve a room in the Student Center to eat in for lunch?

A: Yes, but a teacher would have to pay for this reservation through the Student Center. We advise teachers who prefer a more intimate dining experience for their students to find public seating on the 2nd floor of the Student Center South which is less crowded than the main floor. Chaperones can escort students while purchasing lunch on the first floor and then escort them up to the seating area on the second floor.
